Because your own conscious basically is there to help you, it always has you as an individual in the forefront...and your safety in the forefront of its unconscious mind. But often, our scripts or the unconscious is not in line with where we are as individuals at any given time in our lives, so we might find ourselves practicing some behavioural patterns that might have been effective for us when we were a certain age, but not effective for us at another age. But the unconscious will keep on doing that because it thinks it's keeping you safe. So, hypnosis is a way of shifting the unconscious into a different way, patterned behaviour.
