Client success stories
Simon’s success story: A case study on our anxiety therapy.
Simon (23), was a friendly and likeable person but a little withdrawn. As a computer technician, he didn’t interact with many people at work. But when new responsibilities came up, he found he couldn’t always control his anxiety with feelings such as panic and sickness. Â
This made life that much more difficult for Simon, not being able to eat in front of anyone, fleeing social situations, and fearing interactions with women. Simon knew he needed to seek our help to finally overcome his anxiety before it was too late. Â
In his first session with us, we used an NLP technique to teach him how to take his wave of anxiety in the opposite direction.Â
During his second session, we used hypnotherapy to explore the origins of his anxiety and discovered it started when he joined a new school where he wanted to ensure everything was perfect, so he didn’t draw attention to himself, but this only brought him more bullying. We then worked on diminishing his need for perfectionism. Â
By his third session, Simon felt his control was increasing, showing no panic attacks all week feeling increasingly calm. We then concentrated on his anxiety about eating in front of others, using hypnosis to introduce positive thoughts. Â
At his next session, he explained he could finally eat in front of male friends but still felt self-conscious in front of women. That’s when we found during hypnosis that his sisters made fun of him when his voice started breaking at age 11. We also discovered his failed relationship when he was 18 further reduced his self-confidence with women. We used Gestalt therapy to explore his very intense feelings caused by this relationship. Â
Two sessions later, Simon revealed he ate at the pub for lunch with two women. He explained his anxiety levels dropped to zero after about 10 minutes into lunch and felt more confidence throughout. After this massive progression, we suggested a break to consolidate his new patterns of behaviour. Â
Simon then called four weeks later saying he felt much better about himself and was able to be calm and confident in social situations, started a relationship with a woman, and taken a new job. Â
