Baby loss bereavement and traumatic grief counselling

Have support through pregnancy loss, baby loss or neonatal death.

What is baby loss bereavement and traumatic grief counselling?

Losing a child is an extremely difficult event in anyone’s life. And the grief that follows is an intense and enduring experience that feels overwhelming and all-consuming. But everything you are feeling is normal and there’s no right or wrong way to feel. That means you may be responding differently to your partner or family member, and that’s okay.

Baby loss bereavement and traumatic grief counselling gives you the psychological therapy and counselling you need to help you process the grief and trauma of losing a child. This helps guide you through your distressing time and find ways of honouring your baby whilst creating a path forward.

Responding to loss - Everyone is different

Everything you are feeling is normal. There’s no right or wrong way to feel. You may be responding differently to your partner or family member, and that’s okay. It’s not unusual to experience a wide range of intense feelings including guilt and anger. Your loss will affect both emotionally and physically.

How do you describe the feelings of baby loss?

When losing a baby, your feelings of grief will collide with feelings of trauma. This can continue for months or years. That’s because you’re not thinking about how long the baby lived but about your emotional investment in your child.  This makes it feel impossible to come to terms with your loss and you may feel others don’t really understand how you feel.

You may be feeling these emotions at different times:

  • Shock and numbness
  • Overwhelming sadness
  • Tiredness or exhaustion
  • Anger
  • Guilt
  • Isolation

We understand that everyone responds differently to baby loss and experiences grief in distinctive ways. That’s why our approach to baby loss bereavement therapy and grief counselling is tailored to your needs and circumstances. We’ll create a safe environment for you to express yourself freely and progress at your own pace.

Our aim is to help you accept and process your loss, make sense of what has happened, and give you the tools to move forward with life. We do this by using a range of therapies for bereavement such as CBT and EMDR, PTSD, and psychotherapy and counselling techniques.
