Drugs and alcohol misuse therapy and counselling
What is drug and alcohol therapy?
Drug and alcohol misuse and addiction can have a devastating impact on a person’s life, affecting everything from your health (emotional, physical and mental) to your home and work life, to personal and professional relationships. The first step to recovery is acknowledgement and the acceptance that you have a substance misuse problem.
Drug and alcohol therapy is meant to break the cycle of addiction for those who have a mild to moderate alcohol and/or drug abuse issue with high levels of dependency. It’s one of the main tools in any rehabilitation treatment program as it can help make sense of your addiction, often revealing the reason for your misuse and addiction. There are usually several factors that lead people to drink and drugs, but with proper therapy, you’ll be able to find root causes and learn how to conquer your addiction.

How we help
We know that showing an accepting nature is vital to recovery. We’ll work to understand how you are feeling and give you the opportunity to talk about your lived experience with addiction and substance misuse in a space where you can express your emotions freely.
Together we’ll look at your triggers, reframe the issues, and build coping strategies specific to you. Now, you’ll finally be able to learn the skills and techniques needed to maintain a change in behaviour with alcohol and/or drug abuse.
While each situation is different, we typically use a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), hypnotherapy, and EMDR, as well as psychotherapy and counselling techniques.
